Exam body responds to NEET-UG toppers in court

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has responded to the Supreme Court's concerns regarding the high number of toppers in the NEET-UG exam, with 67 students achieving a perfect score of 720/720. The NTA explained that six students from a center in Haryana received grace marks for lost time, resulting in a perfect score, which was later corrected in a retest. The agency clarified that only 17 candidates scored full marks without any revision in answer keys, not significantly higher than previous years. The NTA emphasized that the distribution of top scorers across various centers and cities reflects the diverse participation and competitive nature of the exam, dismissing claims of irregularities in the scoring process. The Supreme Court is currently examining the NEET-UG paper leak case, which has prompted protests. sources

Top Court Rejects Plea to Review Adani-Hindenburg Verdict

The Supreme Court has rejected a plea to review its decision from January 3, which refused to transfer investigations into allegations of stock price manipulation by the Adani Group to a special investigation team or the Central Bureau of Investigation. The three-member bench, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, dismissed the review petition, stating that there was "no error apparent on the face of the record." The plea, filed by Anamika Jaiswal, claimed "mistakes and errors" in the judgment and requested a review based on new material received by the petitioner's counsel. The Adani Group welcomed the verdict, with Chairman Gautam Adani calling it a victory of truth and expressing gratitude to supporters. The court had previously stated that a report by OCCRP could not be the basis for doubting an inquiry by market regulator SEBI into the Hindenburg case. sources
