MUMBAI: Investigators have confirmed that the 19 sets of fingerprints collected from actor Saif Ali Khan's residence following a violent burglary attempt do not match those of the accused, Shariful Islam. The Mumbai Police had submitted the prints to the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which reported the negative match. The 54-year-old actor sustained six stab wounds, including a serious injury to his spine, during the January 15 attack, which left him hospitalized for treatment. He has since been released and is recovering at home. Shariful, a Bangladeshi national who entered India illegally, claimed he was attempting the burglary in hopes of obtaining fake citizenship documents. Authorities are now searching for the individual who allegedly promised to provide these documents. Additionally, police are collaborating with Western Railway to identify the suspect captured on CCTV footage, as they seek to strengthen their case against Shariful.
