Supreme Court's stern message to Delhi: No more complacency

The Supreme Court of India has criticized the governments of Punjab and Delhi for their failure to address the toxic air pollution that plagues the national capital every winter. The court ordered both states, ruled by the Aam Aadmi Party, to take action against the burning of agricultural waste, which significantly contributes to Delhi's air quality crisis. The court also reprimanded the Delhi government for delays in funding the Delhi-Meerut regional rapid transport system and ordered funds to be transferred from the ruling party's advertisement budget to the project. However, the court stayed this order for a week at the request of the Delhi government. The court showed sympathy towards farmers in Punjab, suggesting that the government offer incentives to discourage them from burning crop waste. Delhi's air quality is a recurring issue, with pollution levels reaching extremely toxic levels every winter. sources

Madhya Pradesh Election Results 2023: Live Counting and Result

The Madhya Pradesh election results are being declared today, with counting of votes starting at 8 am IST. The state has been a stronghold for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the past twenty years, except for a 15-month period when the Congress came to power in 2018. BJP's Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a four-time Chief Minister, has not been officially declared as the candidate for the top post in 2023. The Congress is hoping to make a comeback after over two decades in the opposition. The state saw its highest-ever voter turnout of over 77% during the Assembly polls. The BJP is seen as having the advantage on paper, with three of the last four elections in their favor. The Congress sees this election as a chance for redemption after losing power in 2020 due to defections led by Jyotiraditya Scindia. The BJP aims to capitalize on the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for a fifth win in the state. sources

Telangana Election 2023: Live Updates on Vote Counting

The counting of votes for the Telangana Assembly elections will begin today at 8 am, as the state decides whether K Chandrasekhar Rao of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) will retain power for a third term or if the BJP or Congress will take control. The BRS is relying on its social welfare programs to stay in the lead, while the Congress hopes for a repeat of its success in neighboring Karnataka. The BJP aims to expand its reach in southern India by making inroads into Telangana. The three parties will need to reach the magic number of 60 seats in the 119-seat Assembly to form a government. Most exit polls predict a victory for the Congress, with BRS in second place and the BJP trailing behind. The counting of votes for all five states that went to polls last month will begin at 8 am. sources

Rajasthan Election 2023: Congress and BJP Face Tough Contest

The counting of votes in Rajasthan is set to be a riveting show, despite exit polls predicting a victory for the BJP. The state has a history of voting out the incumbent party, making the outcome uncertain. Both the BJP and Congress campaigned intensely, with the BJP deploying senior ministers and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while the Congress focused on grassroots campaigning. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot projected confidence, but exit polls indicate a challenging task for him to secure a second consecutive term. The polls suggest that the BJP may win comfortably with 104 seats, while the Congress may secure 86 seats. However, there is a chance that the BJP could find itself on the other side of the fence, as there is not a marked difference in the poll promises of the two parties. Both parties have struggled with inner rifts and factionalism, with the Congress facing a feud between Gehlot and Sachin Pilot. The lack of a Chief Ministerial candidate for the BJP may also affect their fortunes. Overall, the Rajasthan election promises to be a cliffhanger. sources

2023 Election Results: BJP, Congress Face Nerve-Wracking Battle

The counting of votes for three heartland states and one in the south has begun in India, with the results seen as a bellwether for next year's Lok Sabha polls. Exit polls have predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will retain Madhya Pradesh and reclaim Rajasthan, while the Congress is projected to win a second term in Chhattisgarh and secure a victory in Telangana. However, exit polls can often be inaccurate. The contest in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh is generating the most suspense, with Telangana also looking promising for the Congress. A victory in Madhya Pradesh could boost the stock of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the four-time Chief Minister of the state. The results will be crucial for both the BJP and Congress ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. sources

Congress may prevent KCR's hat-trick in Telangana

The ruling party in Telangana, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), led by President K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), is facing the challenge of anti-incumbency as it seeks a hat-trick of terms in the upcoming Assembly elections. Exit polls, including the NDTV Poll of Polls, have predicted that the BRS is likely to lose power to the Congress. According to the Poll of Polls, the Congress is expected to win 62 seats, two more than the majority, while the BRS may be reduced to 44 seats. The BJP-Jana Sena alliance and the AIMIM are predicted to win seven and five seats respectively. The BRS has faced criticism over issues such as unemployment, alleged discrimination in the distribution of funds, and a lack of dissent within the party. The Congress, which claims credit for Telangana gaining statehood, has revamped its Telangana unit and offered six guarantees to voters. The BJP's campaign has been affected by the removal of its state chief, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and the perception of softening its stance against the BRS. sources

Congress seeks revenge in Madhya Pradesh, BJP aims 5th win

The counting of votes for the Madhya Pradesh election is underway, with the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress in a two-way fight for the state. The BJP has the advantage on paper, having won three of the last four elections in the state. Exit polls also predict a victory for the BJP by large margins. However, the Congress is confident it can upset its rival's chances, despite only four exit polls predicting a return close to the 116+ seats needed to form the government. The election is seen as an opportunity for the Congress and its former Chief Minister Kamal Nath to seek redemption after losing power in 2020. The BJP, on the other hand, is relying on its 'Ladli Behna Yojana' scheme for women to win votes. The fight for the state government may end today, but the battle for the Lok Sabha seats is just beginning. sources

Peruvian Mummies Puzzle Analysts with Unknown Origins

Controversial journalist and UFO enthusiast Jose Jaime Maussan has presented a startling finding regarding the mysterious mummified remains discovered in Peru. A recent DNA analysis revealed that 30% of the genetic makeup of these "non-human" corpses is not from any known species. The bodies, claimed to be 1,000-year-old fossilised remains of aliens, have sparked speculation about their origins. The authenticity of the mummies, which have three toes, has been affirmed by Maussan and Mexican researchers. They stated that the DNA unrelated to known species proves that these specimens do not belong to terrestrial evolution. Maussan emphasized that this is the first time extraterrestrial life has been presented in this manner and that the public has the right to know about non-human technology and beings. He believes that this discovery unites humanity and proves that we are not alone in the universe. sources

80% of heart attack deaths in Gujarat's 11-25 age group in six months: Minister

In the last six months, a total of 1,052 people in Gujarat have died from heart attacks, with 80% of the victims being between the ages of 11 and 25, according to state education minister Kuber Dindor. In response to the increasing number of heart attacks, nearly 200,000 school teachers and college professors will receive training in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), a life-saving intervention during medical emergencies. Dindor stated that many of the victims were not even obese, causing fear among young people in the same age group. The state Education Department will conduct CPR training camps at 37 medical colleges between December 3 and 17, with the aim of training the teachers. The camps will be attended by 2,500 medical experts and doctors, and certificates will be provided to participants. Similar training has been given to Bharatiya Janata Party workers and police personnel in the state. sources
