Fernandes had stated that the Indian Constitution was "forced" on Goa after its liberation from Portuguese rule, leading PM Modi to accuse the Congress of meddling with the Constitution and conspiring to break the country. The PM's comments come in the midst of accusations by the Congress that the BJP aims to change the Constitution if re-elected, with BJP's Anant Hegde previously suggesting a target of 400 Lok Sabha seats for the NDA to amend the Constitution. Fernandes, who had met Gandhi as part of an NGO advocating for dual citizenship for Goans with Portuguese passports, highlighted the discrepancy between Goa's liberation and the imposition of the Indian Constitution, claiming that their destiny was decided by someone else. 
In a late-night hearing on Saturday, a Delhi court has sent Bibhav Kumar, the personal assistant to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, to police custody for five days after being arrested for allegedly assaulting AAP leader Swati Maliwal. The incident reportedly took place at the chief minister's residence, with Ms Maliwal claiming she was kicked and dragged by Mr Kumar. The police sought his custody for seven days, citing the need to investigate the assault and unlock his phone. Mr Kumar's lawyer questioned the delay in filing the case and highlighted inconsistencies in Ms Maliwal's account, including the absence of CCTV footage in the drawing room. The lawyer also mentioned Mr Kumar's previous legal issues, including an accusation of threatening a government official in Noida.
Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff has secured an ad-interim injunction from the Delhi High Court, protecting his personality and publicity rights. The court ruled in his favor, restraining various entities from misusing his name, image, likeness, voice, and other distinctive attributes on the internet. A former sarpanch was killed and a couple from Rajasthan was injured in separate terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir just two days before polling in the ongoing six-week general election. Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh was shot and later died in hospital in Shopian district, while a tourist couple from Jaipur, identified as Tabriz and Farha, were injured in Anantnag district. A fire broke out in the Arihant Harmony Society in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, after a generator explosion, engulfing four flats in flames.
