The deal is crucial for India to mitigate the impact of US reciprocal tariffs, which were temporarily postponed. New Delhi is seeking greater access for its labor-intensive products and a waiver on steel and aluminum tariffs. A US trade delegation is set to visit India this week to advance negotiations, following discussions between Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Lutnick in Washington last month.
