A driver at Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park has been dismissed after a viral video showed him offering water to a cheetah named Jwala and her four cubs, violating official guidelines. The incident raised concerns as it disregarded instructions meant to prevent human-cheetah conflicts. Jwala, part of a translocation initiative under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Project Cheetah, approached the driver when he called her, leading to the cubs following suit. Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Uttam Kumar Sharma, stated that the monitoring team is trained to keep a safe distance from the cheetahs, and only authorized personnel should interact closely with them. Currently, the park hosts 26 cheetahs, including 14 cubs born in India, following the translocation of eight Namibian cheetahs in September 2022 and 12 from South Africa in February 2023.
