It is alleged that during her first visit, she developed ties with Ehsan-ur-Rahim, a Pakistani High Commission official, and subsequently communicated with Pakistani intelligence operatives, sharing sensitive details about Indian Army movements. Malhotra's arrest follows India's Operation Sindoor, a response to a deadly terror attack in April, after which Rahim was expelled from India for espionage activities. She is one of six individuals charged under espionage laws.
