Mumbai Police have arrested Sariful Islam, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national, who allegedly stabbed actor Saif Ali Khan six times during a burglary attempt on January 16. Sariful, who had illegally entered India last year under the alias Bijoy Das, was apprehended after a three-day manhunt involving 20 police teams. Evidence, including two identity cards from Bangladesh, confirms his nationality. The first card is a National Identity Card indicating his birth date as March 3, 1994, while the second is a learner's driver's license from Barisal, issued in November 2019. Sariful reportedly demanded Rs 1 crore from the nanny of Khan's son, Jehangir, before attacking the actor. Following the incident, Khan sustained serious injuries, including to his spine, and has since been discharged from the hospital. He will now have 24-hour police protection and additional security services. Sariful is scheduled to appear in court again on Friday.
