Meat Shops Prohibited Near Aero India Show Venue. Reasons Inside

BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has announced the closure of all meat stalls and non-vegetarian restaurants from January 23 to February 17, ahead of the Aero India Show. Scheduled to take place from February 10 to 14 at the Yelahanka Air Force Station, the event's proximity has led to the prohibition of non-vegetarian food sales within a 13 km radius. BBMP officials cited concerns over scavenger birds, particularly kites, being attracted to food waste, which poses a risk of mid-air accidents. Violators of this order will face penalties under the BBMP Act-2020 and the Indian Aircraft Rules 1937. The Aero India Show, a significant biennial event, will include a Defence Ministers' Conclave, a CEOs' round-table, and a large exhibition, reinforcing its status as a premier aerospace exhibition since its inception in 1996. sources

A 45-year-old man from Chikhali, near Pune, has been accused of killing his wife and their nine-year-old son by administering a lethal dose of sleeping pills, reportedly due to harassment from moneylenders. Vaibhav Hande, who attempted suicide afterward, is currently hospitalized. Police have registered a case against four individuals: Santosh Kadam, Surekha Kadam, Santosh Pawar, and Javed Khan, following Hande's complaint. Congress Leader Wanted AAP Alliance, But Kejriwal Disagreed

Congress leader Ajay Maken expressed his personal view on Saturday that the party should not form an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, reiterating his stance that Congress's past support for AAP in 2013 was detrimental to the party and beneficial to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking at a press conference at the new Congress headquarters, Maken maintained that AAP's rise aids the BJP's political strength in the capital. He emphasized the importance of a strong Congress to effectively counter the BJP, citing historical successes when Congress led the government in Delhi. Maken criticized AAP's inability to challenge the BJP and highlighted missed opportunities for alliances in both Delhi and Haryana. He concluded by asserting that since AAP's ascent, the BJP has consistently won all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, undermining Congress's influence at the national level. sources
