Seven individuals have been arrested in connection with a fake SIM card racket linked to Pakistani agents, according to Assam Police. The arrests were made during 'Operation Ghost SIM,' a joint initiative between the Indian Army and Assam Police, which commenced after intelligence from the Gajraj Corps revealed illegal activities involving fake SIM cards across Assam, Rajasthan, and Telangana. The operation, launched on May 16, led to simultaneous raids in multiple states, resulting in the seizure of 948 SIM cards and various electronic devices. The arrested suspects, aged between 19 and 47, were using these counterfeit SIM cards for cyber crimes and anti-national activities, including facilitating the transfer of sensitive information to agents in Pakistan. Assam's Director General of Police, Harmeet Singh, confirmed that the numbers were being exploited by anti-national elements to create WhatsApp accounts that appeared to be based in India. Further investigations are ongoing.
