This change coincides with the 150th birth anniversary of the prominent freedom fighter and tribal leader, Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Khattar emphasized that the renaming aims to inspire both residents and visitors at the nearby International Bus Stand by honoring Munda's legacy. Earlier in the day, a statue of Munda was unveiled by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Khattar, and Delhi LG VK Saxena. Munda, a key figure in the Indian tribal freedom struggle, led the Ulgulan rebellion against British rule, advocating for land rights among the Munda tribe in the Chotanagpur region. He founded the Birsait faith and was affectionately known as 'Dharti Aba' or 'father of the earth,' passing away at the young age of 25.
