A 31-year-old man, Saifuddin, has been arrested for the murder of his wife, Sabina, in Shravasti, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred earlier this week while the couple was en route to Lucknow, where Saifuddin allegedly dismembered her body and disposed of the parts over a 10-kilometre area, including into a canal. The case came to light on May 14 when Sabina's brother, Salahuddin, reported her missing after failing to reach her by phone. His suspicions grew when he spotted Saifuddin nearby without any sign of his sister. Following a missing persons report, police detained Saifuddin, who initially misled investigators. After two days of questioning, he confessed to the crime, revealing he had burned Sabina’s hand and hidden it in a garden. The victim’s family alleges that the couple faced ongoing harassment over dowry demands. Police have since recovered the burnt hand and charged Saifuddin.
