Court Issues Non-Bailable Warrant for Rahul Gandhi's Defamation Case

The MP-MLA Special Court in Chaibasa, Jharkhand, has issued a non-bailable warrant for senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in connection with a 2018 defamation case linked to comments he made about then-BJP National President Amit Shah. The court has mandated that Gandhi appear in person on June 26. The case originated from remarks made by Gandhi during a Congress event, where he suggested that a "murderer" could not lead the Congress party, a statement interpreted by complainant Pratap Katiyar as defamatory towards Shah. Initially, a bailable warrant was issued in April 2022 due to Gandhi's lack of response, but this escalated to a non-bailable warrant in February 2024. Despite attempts by Gandhi's legal team to secure an exemption from personal attendance, the court rejected these requests. Additionally, a separate defamation case against Gandhi is ongoing in Sultanpur, also related to his comments about Shah. sources

Pacific Ocean Shrinking; New Supercontinent Forming, Study Finds

Scientists from Curtin University and Peking University have projected that a new supercontinent, named Amasia, could form within the next 200 to 300 million years as the Pacific Ocean gradually closes. Their research, published in the journal *National Science Review*, suggests that tectonic plates will converge, leading to significant geographical changes. Australia is anticipated to collide with Asia, which will play a crucial role in Amasia's formation, as it connects America and Asia following the Pacific's closure. Dr. Chuan Huang, a member of the research team, emphasized that this new model challenges previous theories by indicating that the Pacific Ocean, remnants of the ancient Panthalassa superocean, will close first. Historically, Earth's continents have merged to create supercontinents approximately every 600 million years, suggesting that a new cycle is imminent. sources
